Position Summary 

This position is responsible for the safe and compliant operation of commercial motor vehicles used to transport heavy equipment. The driver is expected to operate within all applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, North Carolina State law, and company policy at all times. This is a safety-sensitive position with zero tolerance for impairment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate Class A CDL vehicle with 40’ gooseneck trailer, to transport pumps, pipe, and miscellaneous equipment to and from job sites.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with 49 CFR Part 396 and FMCSA requirements.
  • Plan and execute safe equipment loading, blocking, bracing, and tie-down procedures in compliance with 49 CFR Part 393 and CVSA securement standards.
  • Monitor and comply with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations under 49 CFR Part 395; maintain accurate ELD records at all times.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and near-misses immediately to management in accordance with company policy and 49 CFR Part 390.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and roadworthy condition, and report defects promptly.
  • Operate a warehouse forklift and telehandler.


Minimum Qualifications 

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the State of North Carolina or transferable from another state.
  • Minimum 2 years of verifiable CDL driving experience.
  • Current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Physical) on file with FMCSA CDLIS.
  • Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations, including 49 CFR Parts 390–399.
  • Familiarity with North Carolina G.S. Chapter 20 motor vehicle laws as applied to commercial vehicles.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in cargo securement for loads.
  • Clean MVR with no disqualifying offenses within the past 3 years.


Drug and Alcohol Testing Requirements 

This is a safety-sensitive position subject to the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program (49 CFR Part 382). The following conditions apply as a condition of employment and continued employment:

  • Pre-employment drug test required; a verified negative result must be received before the applicant may operate any commercial motor vehicle.
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing throughout the duration of employment.
  • Subject to post-accident testing following any qualifying incident as defined under 49 CFR §382.303.
  • Subject to reasonable suspicion testing when warranted.
  • Subject to return-to-duty and follow-up testing following any violation, as applicable.
  • Any confirmed positive test result, refusal to test, or adulterated specimen constitutes grounds for immediate disqualification and termination.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a CMV.
  • Ability to safely climb on and off equipment and trailers.
  • Ability to lift, pull, and handle tie-down chains, binders, and straps (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Must maintain DOT physical qualification standards at all times.
